George May

George brings twenty years of volleyball coaching experience to Crossfire. Since 1998, when he formed and directed the Big Lake Juniors Volleyball Club in Florida, to the present, George has coached teams at all age levels from 12U to junior college. A high school varsity coach in Florida for six years, he led his team to the schools first 20 win season and a number one state ranking. Through the years his club teams have experienced numerous tournament championships, perhaps none more impressive than his 14U BLJ team that took Gold in the prestigious Disney Classic in Orlando and posted a 30-6 overall record.

Explaining his coaching philosophy George talks about his approach to the game. "Winning is great, and important," he explains, "but the true measure of success if directly related to the amount of effort given. I love watching a team learn what that effort feels like and looks like. For most of these players I don't think it comes naturally."

Of his accomplishments he is particularly proud that in the six high school seasons he coached eleven of his players earned scholarships to play volleyball in college. "Watching a player grow and mature, not just as a volleyball player, but as the member of a team and as a leader is really rewarding."

George is beginning his second season with Crossfire. Last year he coached our 12 Regional team to two Gold Division tournament championships and a final top ten Palmetto Region ranking. He brings a wealth of coaching experience and knowledge to Crossfire.
